Air Cargo companies participating in charitable acts

Air cargo companies are now becoming more committed to helping society prosper. Since 2020, companies such as Qatar Airways Cargo have been engaging in acts of charity.

In 2020, air cargo companies started providing humanitarian aid and medical equipment to charities.

In addition, these companies made efforts to protect wildlife free of charge. They did this through preserving and shipping wildlife to their natural habitat.

Another way in which air cargo companies worked to benefit societies included working together, causing amazing things to happen. Specifically, working together meant donating school materials, clothes, musical instruments, and more to children. They focused their efforts into helping children in order for them to enjoy their childhood and make the future a bright place.

Everyone was allowed to participate in these selfless acts, with donations being received worldwide. As more companies continue these kind donations, there can be more positive communities around the world.

Usage of biodegradable plastics for cargo

Companies are now making efforts to decrease the environmental impact of utilizing plastic in their business processes. They are now using Bionatur Plastic biodegradable stretch wrap for their cargo. This replacement of traditional plastic leads to an amount equivalent to 68 million plastic water bottles being removed from landfills.

Moreover, when plastic enters a landfill, it can take 1,000 years to biodegrade. Thus, utilizing BioNatur Plastic biodegradable plastics is exceedingly better for the environment, as it takes 5 to 10 years to biodegrade.

Positive outcomes are appearing from Bionatur Plastic biodegradable stretch wrap. Thus, companies are feeling encouraged to continue utilizing this stretch wrap for cargo.

In addition, the BioNatur Plastic products consist of 1% organic additives that are food safe. These additives allow anaerobic bacteria to consume the plastic when it’s placed in the landfill. When used for cargo, this biodegradable plastic performs identical to traditional plastic.

In essence, leaders of companies support these sustainability goals. Therefore, they are committed to reducing the environmental impact of plastic products. Moreover, they are doing what they can to continue utilizing sustainable products for the cargo industry.

The rise of the CO2 emissions calculator

A CO2 emissions calculator is now being launched in order for air cargo customers to utilize greener operations.

Airlines are beginning to make use of this calculator and have it available on their website. This calculator will easily determine a cargo’s entire CO2 emissions in pounds or kilos.

In order to get the cargo’s amount of CO2 emissions, the user would place the origin of the shipment, the destination, flight date, and weight onto the website. Then, the flight options would appear along with their amount of carbon emissions produced.

By customers utilizing this calculation tool, they will become aware of their shipments carbon footprint. This awareness is a first step towards increasing greener operations and reaching sustainability goals.

Improvements for perishables supply chain

Reducing waste and increasing shelf life should be a top priority among the perishables supply chain. Stakeholders involved should put together a digital approach to make improvements towards this movement.

Until now, there has been a lack of new technologies to address this issue. As well, there have been low amounts of reporting across the supply chain.

Through increased reporting, better decisions can be made regarding temperature excursions and logistic solutions to reduce waste. As well, utilizing a digital approach will also allow stakeholders to collaborate with each other to improve the shelf life of perishables.

One type of KPI metric, the Degree-Hour, has been created to improve this supply chain. This metric measures the temperature and time before a product becomes perishable. Through this metric, temperatures and shipment times will be maintained in order to keep products fresh.

Through measures like these, significant improvements are bound to be made regarding product quality and limited waste in the supply chain.

The beginning of airdrop logistics

The US-based Silent Arrow, a cargo delivery drone, has had its first overseas deployment. In this deployment, it has transported 1,026 pounds of cargo.

The Silent Arrow belongs to Yates Electrospace Corporation. It  underwent this deployment in the Middle East, under the air force of a US allied government. This deployment was under a 1.5m operational contract.

The usage of drones for air cargo can fix problems involving labor shortages and lower expenses for the industry. Drones can fit higher amounts of cargo than current air freight available. They can also lead to lower amounts of carbon emissions in the environment through its usage.

According to Chip Yates, the CEO and Founder of Silent Arrow, “the mass production of Silent Arrow feels encouraging. Silent Arrow will bring new opportunities, and will be implemented in 37 countries thus far. The continued usage of Silent Arrow will lead to it becoming the worldwide standard for airdrop logistics.”

New technology available for cargo scanning

The air cargo industry now has an efficient way of documenting cargo dimensions through Cargo Spectre’s AI scanning system. This scanning system uses advanced machine-learning to capture cargo dimensions at record speeds.

This software utilizes 3D scanners, cameras, and scales to scan parcels and pallets. These dimensions are captured with weight sensors, a click of a button, or a barcode scan.

The scanning system gathers data from the cargo at once, and has no difficulty capturing cargo with protrusions. This software also requires much less space and time to collect data than a laser scanner.

Compared to other scanning systems in the freight industry, Spectre’s algorithm is much more accurate and can scan difficult cargo better than other laser scanners available.

Spectre can reliably capture the dimensions of black plastic surface cargo, which is challenging for most scanners. Like how it functions for regular cargo, this scanning system can complete this scan in little time, and can correctly capture this cargo even with protrusions.

Aviation industry training

Aviation industry strengthened through training

The pandemic has caused the largest crisis the aviation industry has seen in 100 years. Now, the industry is making transitions to have a more sustainable future. Thus, the two-year critical period the industry faced caused a major loss of employees and lost skills. Fortunately, training is becoming available for current and new employees to have correct skill sets for the industry. This will increase the chances of the industry to become more prosperous. As well, new talent is arising in the industry. This will bring along new skill sets and further increase the potential within their role.

Trainers mission

Therefore, before organizations begin the training, it is essential for them to understand what roles and priorities prior employees had. Then, the new skills these employees have will match what the organization requires to be successful. In regards to the new talent in the industry, a group of trainers is being required. These trainers will specifically be from the operational side of the industry. Their mission is to instruct new employees about aviation regulations.

Besides instructing employees on aviation regulations, safety training will be of top importance. Simulation tools will be utilized in order to increase safety knowledge and reduce risks within the airline. Employees will then have the knowledge to make safety decisions once the training is completed.

Sustainability training

There will also be sustainability training consisting of three levels. The explorer level will provide entry-level information to students, the practitioner level will inform students of core sustainability skills, and the leadership level will provide knowledge on how to structure an organization. Moreover, whether students are on an entry to executive level in their courses, these training sessions will provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the industry. This gained knowledge will also help lead the aviation industry to a prosperous direction.

At Bringer, we believe that training is paramount to success for all employees and for Bringer. Whether it’s a position in the warehouse or in marketing, Bringer employees are being trained in the fundamentals of the industry to gain understanding of their vital role in our daily operations.
